Donnie, Trisha, Harley & Taylor Feiring would like to welcome you to Dry Creek Hideaway! We are very excited to offer you this rare opportunity to stay on a working ranch on the North Dakota/Montana border in western North Dakota. We’re located just minutes off Interstate 94.
Currently we have the upstairs (The Sunrise Lodge) available for guests. Stay for 2 nights or stay for an extended period of time. When you stay at Dry Creek Hideaway, you get all the comforts of home. We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. Enjoy the photography from a local artist, the beautiful wood side tables from a local craftsman and the beautifully handcrafted table runners. We are also excited to offer you Feiring’s Grassfed Beef, which is raised right here on our ranch.
The facility is non smoking. There are no pets allowed in the Sunrise Lodge. Bed and bath linens are provided.
This beautiful log home was built by Charles and Glenna Mastel along with their three children Karen, Karla and Kevin. The floorplans for the home were designed by Charles Mastel. The Mastel family starting digging the basement in October of 1974. They lived in original one bedroom house on the ranch while building the log house. The original house burned shortly after they moved into the basement of the log house. They lived in the basement of the log home for several years before completing the upstairs. A permit was purchased from the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service in Bozeman, MT to harvest the logs to use for the upstairs of the home. They were then transported to the Mastel farmstead by Timer Jones. Much of the work on the logs was done with a chainsaw. The upper level was completed in the spring of 1979.
Karla Mastel Nistler had the following to share – “My bedroom was the one just off the kitchen upstairs. I begged dad to finish it so I wouldn’t have to share a room with Karen anymore (wink). He finished my room enough for me to go up the stairs and lift a sheet of plywood up, that was laid across the stairs to keep the heat downstairs and run to my bedroom. Nothing else was finished. It wasn’t long before the upstairs was completed a little bit at a time. The ranch made us all who we are today with a great work ethic and an understanding of how to get things done.”
The building in the middle of the yard we call “The Grainery”. In the past, it was used to store grain for the cattle, sheep and horses. In the future, we plan to convert it to another cabin that will host guests.
